The Bungendore Show is a great community event. It has continued for 125 years mainly due to the efforts of volunteers.

Some of our volunteers are short term and only appear as the Show nears to assist in the office or on the grounds on Show Day. Others have had a life time involvement dedicating much time and effort over many many years.

Which ever the case, it is a testament to the efforts of volunteers over the years that the Show not only survives but flourishes with the time, effort and attention it receives from approximately 100 volunteers on an annual basis.

Volunteers can be Stewards organising a Section e.g. the Pavillion, Wool, Home Brewed Beer, Produce, Needlework etc.), Stewards (assisting with Sections like sections of the Horse Events), Committee members (organising activities for the Show e.g. Trade, Catering, Entertainment, Animal Nursery etc.), office staff, grounds personnel, community groups etc.

At the moment the Show is in need of new faces, be it for Show Day and the days leading up, or more long term, involved in the actual planning and organisation of the Show - such as the vital role of Show Secretary, which the 2013 Show still needs urgently.

Show Society President, Marion Whalan said "At the moment the Show Committee is faced with axing some components of the regular Show Program simply because we do not have volunteers to help out. As the Horse Steward and now President, I have had to crtically review the Horse Program and at present some sections will not be offered in 2013 because the volunteers we have simply can't cover it all."

It takes just a few hours a week to help with organising and planning each section of the Show and a little bit nore effort in the week leading up to the Show and of course the actual Show Day sees the greatest need for volunteers. The Committee meet on a regular basis leading up to the Show, usually on a Wednesday evening but all meetings are flexible and much can be done via email and telephone. If you would like to become involved with the Bungendore Show in any way please contact the Assistant Secretary on thesecretarybungendoreshow@gmail.com

"Volunteering as part of the local show is a very personally rewarding experience" said Marion, "I've met so many more people in the Bungendore and surrounding region because of my family's involvement in the Show. It's a great way to contribute to your local community."
