HOW TO GET TO THE BUNGENDORE SHOWThe Showground entrance is on Mathew’s Lane, off Bungendore Road. See typical directions below.
2008 Bungendore Show Pet Parade Report The Pet Parade was a new event at the 2008 Bungendore Show and it proved to be a very popular one. A wide variety of pets and their handlers (both the young and young at heart), proudly paraded their pets and were judged in a wide range of categories. By far the most unusual pet on parade was Perry, a two year old Velvet Worm brought along by its owner Asha Cardillo. Asha and her worm took out the most unusual category and also an equal first in the smallest pet category. Linley Reynolds with her 6 month old yabbie, Pinchy, was the other first place in the smallest pet category and Linley’s yabbie was a very close second in the most unusual category. There were a large number of dogs entered in the parade and so the judging was broken down into small, medium and large size dogs. Results were as follows: Small Dogs: Medium Dogs: Large Dogs: Another fun category was the “Pet Looking Most Like Its Owner”, which was a very difficult judging assignment and resulted in an equal first place awarded to Ellen Winters and her dog Muffin and James Brewer, with his sister’s young dog Miss Muffet.
The final and very challenging judging task was to award Champion Pet and Reserve Champion Pet. Pets and their handlers were asked to parade before the judges, who looked for aspects such as behaviour, attention to the handler’s signals, general happiness and friendliness in the pets. In the inaugural Bungendore Show Pet Parade, which was possible due to the generous support and sponsorship of the Bungendore Veterinary Surgery, the Champion Pet for 2008 was awarded to “Arri” and his handler Laura Field. Reserve Champion Pet went to “Keats” and his owner Julie Cassells. The popularity of the very first Pet Parade has firmly cemented the event in the regular schedule for future Bungendore Shows. Bungendore Show Flat Chat Dog Race Report (Photos attached) The AC Pets & Aquarium inaugural FLAT CHAT DOG RACE was another first time event at the 2008 Bungendore Show. Once again, this new event was well supported by keen dog owners from around the Bungendore region. Due to the number of entries, heats were held by size of dog, with the first and second place getters in each heat progressing through to the final. The line stewards decision was final and thanks go to the local SES & Bush Fire Brigade volunteers who took on this role. As the heats were conducted, it was clear that it was not necessarily the fastest dogs that were covering the 60 metre long track in the quickest time. Winning in a race depended on the dog running straight, ignoring interference from other dogs or interesting things somewhere on the sideline. The ability of the handler to attract and hold their dog’s attention was also a very necessary skill. The finalist were: Small dogs – Muffin (Ellen Winters) & Milo (Ashleigh Larsen) And the results were: Flat Chat Dog Champion 2008 – Lou AC Pets and Aquarium made the event possible with donations of four bags of dog feed for the winner, place getters and the last dog over the line as well as the Champion trophy and medallions for the place getters. Lou’s owner Suzanne Clubb says they will be back in 2009 to defend their title, so the challenge has been thrown down and the event will be on again at the 2009 Bungendore Show.

BUNGENDORE P.A. & H. SOCIETY INCORPORATED PRESIDENTS REPORT TO THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING HELD ON 12 AUGUST 2009
The 2009 Bungendore Show saw the return of horse events after a year’s absence due to the equine influenza restrictions. This, coupled with the retention of many of the events introduced last year to combat the loss of horse events, made the 2009 Show the most financially successful Show in the last two decades.
